Material Specifications

For Ingredients and Raw Materials

Knowing what your product contains and insuring that you are using the material you wish is not only good business – it is a regulatory requirement.  We provide meaningful specifications that outline the critical characteristics for each ingredient dependent on the intended purpose of the ingredient in your formulation.

Applying a multi-layered approach, the ingredient specifications are detailed where they need to be and translate these characteristics into meaningful specifications for use in obtaining the materials, evaluating the materials you obtain and fill-in the regulatory requirements for these specifications. We can help you identify the characteristics of the material you want that are critical to their performance in your product and establishing a set of specifications.

For Finished Products

After your manufacturing process you need a means of assessing both the performance of the process as well as insuring that the finished product is what you want it to be. Regardless of the form of the finished product there are critical characteristics that must be identified and for which parameters must be established.  Knowing what characteristics are critical and establishing limits for each of these insures that you provide your customers with the product they are purchasing.

These become the release criteria for your product before it enters the marketplace and serve as the basis for the stability testing you are similarly obligated to perform to remain compliant with the regulations.  These specifications are presented in clear and concise form intended for daily use as well as for presentation upon inspection.

Supplement Facts Development

One of the most vital pieces of your label is the nutrition information.  This is presented in either a Supplement Facts panel or a Nutrition Facts panel.  There are specific requirements outlined by regulation for every aspect of this section of your label.  Any error in one small aspect of this information can result in regulatory action against your firm.

We provide expertise in label preparation conformant to regulations including structure, type size, nomenclature and layout.  However, what you also receive is insight into how to apply the regulations to the greatest benefit for your business.  There are many chances to get this information wrong or improperly done even from manufacturers or private labelers directly, so we make sure it is done right.
